There are often times in our life when we need comfort. The season of Advent is one of those times, when in the midst of what is so often only seen as joyous season, we can find ourselves ladened with sorrow and grieving the pain of loss and brokenness.
We may wonder how we will get through the holidays. The suffering people, of Isaiah’s day, who looked for the long-awaited Messiah were given the hope-filled words, that God was with them to comfort them
.In the midst of our experiences of the pain of our losses and sorrows we need to know that we are not alone, that God is with us. A Blue Christmas of Lament and Hope is a sacred time and space for us not to be alone, but to be together expressing our grieving to God and together receive God’s word of hope and healing. We are invited to come together in our waiting for the long-awaited Messiah and be reassured that Immanuel, “God with us,” comes to comfort us.
