Join Us for Ash Wednesday Worship & Communion

The Season of Lent, a 40-day time of prayer, reflection, and spiritual self-examination, beginning Wednesday, Feb. 18, with Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is a reminder of our need for reliance on reconciliation with God through God’s grace and mercy; and is a solemn reminder of our human mortality. Spiritually, ashes are a mark of repentance as those in Scripture, who repented of their sin, clothed themselves in “sackcloth and ashes,” as an act of humbling themselves before God since we are powerless to renew ourselves. So, we trust God to restore both our soul and our body through the victory of Jesus, over sin and death, by His resurrection.

At 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday night, we gather for worship as we read God’s word and sing about “Our Journey Toward Wholeness.”  This journey will lead us to the Lord’s Table where we will share the Bread and Cup of Communion. The sign of the cross will be offered to those who would like to receive that mark of ashes on their forehead.

At 6:00 p.m. before worshiping together, we are invited to share a simple meal of soup and bread in the Fellowship Room. Homemade soup and good bread will be provided. So, come and let us bless each other by eating and worshiping together.
