We are well on our journey into the Lenten season. This past Sunday was the “Third Sunday in Lent.” In this season of 40 days (not counting Sundays), we are taking a walk with Jesus as he journeys toward the pain of the cross. It is a season for us to reflect on the meaning of his journey for us as we pray and engage in some self-examination as an invitation from God to draw closer in our relationship with Jesus.
On Monday morning, I read a poem, during devotional time, that I now share with all of us as something to ponder as we continue our Lenten journey.
LentLent is a time to take the time
to let the power of our faith story take a hold of us,
a time to let the events
get up and walk around in us,
a time to intensify
our living unto Christ,
a time to hover over,
the thoughts of our hearts,
a time to place our feet in the streets of Jerusalem
or to walk along the sea and listen to his word,
a time to touch his robe
and feel the healing surge through us,
a time to ponder and to wonder …
Lent is a time to allow a fresh new taste of God!
- A poem by Ann Weems from her book, "Kneeling in Jerusalem".May we continue to take the time, in this season, to “ponder and wonder” about what the “fresh new taste of God” may be for each of us.
