With the Advent season nearly here, I want to shared a beautiful reminder from our denominational heritage — a message from 1954 that still speaks with clarity and encouragement today. May these words strengthen your heart as we move toward the celebration of Christ’s birth.
The following was published in The Covenant Pulpit in 1954 and was authored by Theodore W. Anderson, 1889-1972. I thought his words were especially relevant today and worthy of sharing, as we end the church year and prepare for Advent and the birth of the Christ child."Christianity is first and foremost a person. It is not primarily a theological creed, a system of philosophy, or an ethical code, but rather the eternal truth of God personified.
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”
Christ did not say that he pointed out the way, but that He is the way. He did not claim merely to speak the truth, but that He is the truth.
He is not only the giver of life but is life itself."
My hope for you is that these words speak to your heart as they did to mine. Blessings to all during this holiday season of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
