
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.’” Lamentation 2:22-24
For you, this may be a lean time, a mean time, or an in between time. But, wherever we find ourselves today, it is important in our Christian lives to look back when we look ahead. New Year’s provides us an opportunity. In our worship together on December 28, Pastor Bob called us to ponder with Mary. Our study Monday morning in the book of Ruth similarly enjoined us. Where are the footsteps of God to be noted, from your past? What did they reveal?
May we remember those special times of God’s presence in our lives, and recalibrate and renew our faith. God does not let go of us, though at times, we may feel differently.
As we turn the page to a new year, may you find peace and hope in God’s enduring faithfulness. May you know God’s presence in the various ebbs and flows of the year ahead. And may you say with the author of Lamentations, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.
